"On 26th April 1996, a huge explosion occurred in number four reactor at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant, 100km from the Ukrainian capital of Kiev. The amount of radioactivity released into the environment was such that the incident has undoubtedly became the worst civil nuclear disaster in human history.
Ten years on, the occurrence of cancers, leukaemia and other related diseases has risen dramatically both in Ukraine and neighbouring Belarus, especially amongst children.
