Dear Listener and Friend,

Here in Sugarloaf people know us as the Nuns who bake delicious bread, and cream-pufs and sticky-buns and pies and nut and poppy rolls. At a county fair our jellies won three blue ribbons, one white and one red. This work helps us maintain ourselves.
Now we offer other moments of our life.
- at morning Divine Liturgy when we sing to God.
- in the evening when we rejoice with each other, often in song
- alone with our Lord, as we sing to Him in our hearts
The songs on the record - 5 are original - represent these hours of melody at the Monastery. We hope that this record will provide as much satisfaction to you who are afar as has our bread to neighbours close-by.
This album was made to help us to discharge the debt incurred with the construction of a large new wing in 1984. The novices, on whose account we expanded, are, of course, among the singers. As the only Byzantine Rite monastery of the Order of Discalced Carmelites in North America, our applicants have come great distances for the sake of their “call” to a life of prayer according to the charism of St Teresa, while remaining within their own Eastern Rite, In this sense, ours is truly a “missionary” Carmel, May God reward you for helping us by your purchase of our album. Be assured of our very sincere prayers for each friend we reach through our songs. “To sing is to pray twice.”
